CPAP Supplies – Convenient Access For Sleep Apnea Sufferers

Apnea is defined as “absence of breath”.  Sleep apnea is, therefore, the absence of breath when you sleep.  Sleep deprivation as well as serious health conditions can develop over time for someone who suffers from this disorder.  The most effective form of treatment for sleep apnea is CPAP.

CPAP supplies come in many options.  There are some very good machines on the market as well as much improved masks and nasal pillows.  CPAP machines are much lighter and compact than they used to be and are easy to travel with.  Humidifiers are frequently attached to the machine and heated humidity is very common.

The greatest variety in the market of CPAP supplies are the masks.  There are full face masks, nasal masks and nasal pillows.  Many include gel cushions and adjustable headgear.  Masks are generally included with the purchase of a CPAP machine, but can be bought individually after a period of time when replacement is necessary.

Since CPAP supplies, and the machines they are used with, are considered medical equipment, you will need to have a prescription from your doctor to purchase them.  At some Sleep Centers, like the one that I work at, the order is sent to the Durable Medical Equipment provider after you have a sleep study with a CPAP titration.  There are also numerous companies online who sell CPAP machines and the supplies needed.

People who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea are required to sleep with special equipment.  These CPAP supplies are vital to their health and well being.  It is important that sufferers have easy access to the supplies and equipment they need so they will continue to get a good nights rest.

There are a lot of solutions out there not just CPAP or surgery. I went through a sleep study and they charged me out the yin-yang. I paid probably $2500 just for them to tell me they want me fitted with a CPAP mask and go through ANOTHER sleep study to make sure they got the pressure setting right. I am not rich and couldn’t afford that all over again. I blogged about it on my site. http://stoppedsnoring.com
I ended up using a simple mouthpiece off of amazon. That did the trick for me. Go figure.
